Somewhat like seeing the Christmas shop in Selfridges last month there is something a little deflating about the beginning of the election bandwagon already. The Sun has stuck the knife in and the Tory conference will be the big news next week, and the columnists are sharpening their speculative and uniformed opinions.
One of the things that I am genuinely keen about however, is the possibility of a long overdue referendum on the electoral system. Whilst I’m not as sold on the idea of PR as a lot of people, I think it’s high time we take some time to think bout whether our current politics accurately reflects the diversity of opinions in contemporary Britain.
This nub for Vote for Change, highlights their campaign for a referendum on electoral reform. Whilst I don’t share their coruscating view of politicians (I’m more of the opinion that we get the politicians we deserve, as Tom Bentley once wrote) a debate on electoral reform really is vital, and this nub made by top graphic design bod Sam Care*, is another welcome voice.
As the Beasties said ch-ch-ch-check it out…
* in the spirit of full parliamentary disclosure I should make clear that Sam is also our mate. Clearly it’s not just the pols that are nepotistic and corrupt. But whilst we’re at it, we will also plug his lovely illustration blog, dood.
