in praise of the speechnub

I have been binging on speechnubs today. These videos combine a well known piece of oratory with moving type or er, ‘kinetic typography’ as it’s called. It obviously works better with American oratory because, well, it just tends to be better than anything we can do. I chose this one as it’s from Kansas University where students on Andrea Wertzberger’s course have to complete an assignment where they animate a speech with moving type – here are some other examples. If you dig the speechnub you might like these evocations of harvey milk, barack obama, Dwight from the American version of the office and SM Lockridge.

I think I prefer the older ones.
